The demonstration of handmade bikes

The edition has just ended 2013 of the North American Handmade Bicycle Show, the event that brings together fans of the world of pedals and craftsmen, bicycle manufacturers. The bike exhibited during the edition 2013 perfectly integrated the modern concept of "assembly " to more traditional building skills.

Between materials most viewed during the exhibition, great success was achieved by wood. We also see it in the photo above, where the bike Woody Scorcher by Cicli Connor, flaunts ash wood with reinforcements inserted in strategic points.

The event was held last week in Denver and welcomed visitors from all over the world. The first edition of the North American Handmade Bicycle Show took place on January 15, 2005, in the city of Houston, Texas. Already the first edition, could count about 700 participants, while in 2006 the participants were about 3,000. In 2011 the North American Handmade Bicycle Show counted 7,316 participants which increased to 8,100 in 2012 and this year equally noteworthy numbers were recorded.

The purpose of the event is to show the talent of each craftsman. Here the bicycle manufacturers meet to confront and exchange ideas, without distinction of social class: the event is attended by great engineers but also small artisans, designers or people who share a passion for handmade bikes. During the event there is no shortage of seminars and shows.

For the edition 2013, the main sponsor of the North American Handmade Bicycle Show it was the company Shimano. Shimano is the largest component manufacturer for bicycles. The history of cycling can count new materials and production techniques but it seems that the best frames remain the same hand made.
