The rabbit breeder and possible plants

We have spoken several times about rabbit farms but have not yet focused on the cycle ofbreeding and on installations. Theinstallationsideal forbreedingofrabbitsin a cage, they should be divided into two rooms. A first room that houses the cages for reproduction, the second, houses cages for the growth of small bunnies. Why this distinction? Because the cages for the breeding animals are characterized by a divider and an external nest. The cages of the males have the divider but do not have a nest. For maximum yield of thebreeding, also theinstallationsmust be set up with caution.

L'plant described in the introduction is for abreedingcaged in a closed environment but certainly this is not the only solution. There are various types ofinstallations with as many techniques asbreeding,a summary list:

  • Breeding in a cage in an enclosed environment
L'plantconsists of an old building or shed divided into at least two rooms, one to accommodate two-cell cages with dividers, whether or not equipped with external nests (cages intended for reproduction) and the other for the two-cell cages without dividers, intended for the growth of bunnies. A third room could be useful for the storage of cleaning and maintenance equipment as well as various feed and supplies. As for the size of the cages, the height must be at least 50-60 cm for two-celled cages of 100 × 200 cm. To facilitate cleaning of theinstallations, enclosed cages must be raised from the ground by at least 50 cm.
  • Breeding in outdoor mobile cages
In this case, the cages are located outdoors and are single-celled with an internal nest. For males, the cage is two-celled and fixed, housed in an indoor room. In this case, the mobile cages are made up of “Arks”. With mobile cages, rabbits always have a new pasture at their disposal because every 2 days the breeders will have to move the Ark by a length equal to the base of the Ark itself, following a straight line. Since the rabbits will always have to have a new pasture available, the minimum dimensions are 200 × 100 with a height varying from 50 to 100 cm.
  • Natural breeding
The Ark is the ideal compromise between breeding inplantclosed and outdoors. Those who have a lot of space available and prefer to breedrabbitsin a natural way, it can set up a small garenna structured in different areas. Obviously the area must be properly fenced.
