How do you design an ecological house?


Today we will see broadly what are the fundamental steps fordesign of an ecological house,what we will not cover in this article are administrative permits and licenses for both the building itself and ancillary installations.

For designing an ecological house, the first thing to do is make onefeasibility study. It is useless to design onehomewhich meets its energy needs with wind turbines if you live in the plains where there is not even a breath of wind!

The feasibility study must be accompanied by a series of research on the territory:
- data on solar radiation
- data on the amount of precipitation
- calculation of the electricity needs of the future home
-calculation of the thermal energy needs of the future home

Instead of reinforced concrete it is possible to use brick and wood, the insulation of theecological houseit can be guaranteed by a thermal coat. To regulate the humidity of the house, once again the materials used will take care of it, hygroscopic materials such as wood are excellent for guaranteeing acoustic and thermal insulation and natural humidity regulation with control on the onset of mold.

In aecological housethere is no space for radiators, electric boilers and radiators, so when calculating the thermal energy needs you can estimate the costs associated with the installation of radiant heating systems such as radiators, baseboards at low temperatures, geothermal energy with pumps heat… while for the production of hot water you can rely on thermal energy and solar boilers. It is important to remember that any home can take advantage of a certain level ofgeothermal energy: the first layers of the ground accumulate energy in the form of heat through solar radiation.

The lighting must be as natural as possible, this can be guaranteed with a clever mix of colors and large windows with the right exposure. Internal lighting can be ensured by skylights and low energy consumption systems (LED).

The study on rainfall will be used to estimate the plant capacity for a rainwater recovery system which will then be redistributed to the home for sanitary use (toilet discharge) or for the irrigation of green spaces. Fordesigning an ecological housewe must also take into account the location: the house should bebuiltaway from industrial centers and surrounded by greenery.
