Natural detergents and degreasers

You can clean any surface in the house with natural detergents and degreasers without using aggressive products that pollute the water and irritate the skin. On the market they are found detergents ecological and detergents for washable surfaces based, for example, on coconut soap and palm oil, chalk, sea salt, chamomile and calendula extracts: they clean very well, are non-abrasive and non-irritating.

Between detergents for toilets available on the market, those containing acetic acid are preferable to those based on hydrochloric acid; essences of pine, lemon, eucalyptus and lavender are natural detergents that disinfect naturally better than detergents common. Preferring products made with natural agents is a good rule.

The alternative, which is very practicable for anyone, is to prepare yourself natural detergents and degreasers for house cleaning. A mixture of baking soda and water or borax sprinkled on a damp cloth are degreasers effective for bathrooms, sinks, tiles and countertops.

To clean the toilets you can pour vinegar, leave it overnight and then scrub carefully. Or use as detergent and degreaser the usual good baking soda, which cleans and disinfects deeply but also delicately.

To convince oneself to prefer natural detergents and degreasers just remember that bleach and ammonia pollute the water, destroy the good bacteria that decompose the contents of the sewers and also cause serious damage to septic tanks.

Chlorine compounds, such as sodium hypochlorite present in some bleaches, emit toxic vapors that irritate the eyes, nose and throat. Bleach and ammonia are the two main ones detergents and degreasers in common use. Bleach burns the skin and is toxic if ingested, some degreasers specific ones instead contain ammonia and should not be mixed with bleach or with others detergents (especially those for toilets) because in this way they would release chloramine gases that are very harmful to health and potentially even fatal.
