What you need:

  • Fabric
  • High density foam (or wadding or an old pillow)
  • Wall stapler or thumbtacks
  • Spray adhesive glue
  • Scissors
  • Recycled cardboard
  • Screwdriver
  • tape measure

How to proceed:

  1. The first thing to do is to remove the seat from the chair frame. To raise the seat, help yourself with a screwdriver, making sure to keep the removed screws in a safe place.
  2. Place the seat on a cardboard and shape it: you need to get a cardboard shape that is one centimeter wider than the seat. An extra inch on each side.
  3. Using the cardboard template, trace and cut the foam. To cut, use a pair of large scissors or a good quality cutter.
  4. Apply a spray adhesive to the top of the seat. Spray a little glue on the bearing as well (high density foam). Let the adhesive dry.
  5. At this point you will have obtained a double-layer structure: one layer will be given by the foam and the other by the wooden seat. Take your measurements and determine the amount of fabric you need forupholster each chair.
  6. Trim the excess fabric. Beyond the measurements taken, each side must have at least 5-6 centimeters of space, the excess fabric must be folded under the chair and must be fixed to the seat by means of staples fired with the wall stapler. Alternatively, you can fix the fabric using drawing pins.
