Apple strudel, the recipe

There is an old saying that says "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" ... ... apparently it seems true !!
Apples, in fact, are good for health, even if they don't have many vitamins, due to their high fiber content: just think that a single apple guarantees 20% of the fiber we need every day to stay healthy. And speaking of apples, today we want to offer you the recipe forapple strudel, a typical autumnal sweet, excellent for dessert and for breakfast.

Apple strudel, the ingredients

  • 1 Kg of untreated apples
  • 250 grams of wheat flour 00
  • Zest of one lemon
  • 100 grams of butter
  • 100 grams of sugar
  • 2 fresh organic eggs
  • 80 grams of sultanas
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of brandy
  • 150 grams of breadcrumbs
  • 50 grams of pine nuts

Apple strudel, the preparation

  1. Wash the apples well, peel them, cut them into slices and set aside
  2. Pour the flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar, the eggs and half a glass of warm water into a bowl then mix everything together, forming a dough
  3. Let the dough rest in the fridge for about 30 minutes
  4. In the meantime, prepare the filling for the strudel by starting to soak the sultanas in the brandy
  5. Brown the breadcrumbs with 40 grams of butter
  6. Add the grated lemon zest, cinnamon, pine nuts, raisins, apple slices and lastly the remaining sugar
  7. Roll out the dough until it is about half a centimeter thick
  8. Brush the pastry with a little melted butter and distribute the filling;
  9. Roll up the strudel and close it carefully
  10. Brush the outside with melted butter
  11. Put it on apple strudel in an oven preheated to 180 ° for 45 minutes
  12. After cooking you can add a little icing sugar to the surface

Serve on the table apple strudel warm.
