Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most common disorders of the upper limbs. Symptoms are characterized by sharp pain, difficulty moving, weakness and tingling.
Generally, it occurs when constant and repetitive movements are made that keep the hand and wrist in constant tension, compromising the sensitivity and movement of the whole hand. For example, when performing daily activities that require continuous movement of this area, when sleeping with the hands folded under the body or under the pillow. There are also sports that cause carpal tunnel syndrome, such as tennis, bowling, or weight lifting.

Chamomile is anti-inflammatory and soothing, therefore useful for calming wrist pain. Just prepare an infusion of concentrate and apply it on the affected area with gauze. Alternatively, we can apply chamomile essential oil together with aloe vera or avocad oil
Tips to avoid carpal tunnel syndrome
If you recognize some of the symptoms mentioned above, and you don't want the problem to get worse over time, we recommend that you change some habits that could cause this syndrome. It is true that it is very difficult to change jobs or not to use your hands all the time. However, you can improve the situation if:
Keep your hands in a neutral position
The ideal position of the wrist and hand is extended. For this, the keyboard will need to be positioned so that your forearms rest, and you don't feel the need to bend them, which will also cause less pain in your arms, shoulders, neck and back.
Grab objects with your whole hand
Avoid having only a finger or two grabbing, moving or lifting objects. Using only the index, thumb or middle finger, the pressure on the wrist will increase. Try to use your whole hand and alternate left and right.
Lead a healthy lifestyle
It is very important that the veins are in good condition and that the blood circulates in the body without problems. In this way, it will pass through the hands and wrists without encountering obstacles.
Also, do not forget that to improve this condition, you need to sleep well, do regular physical activity, do not smoke, avoid a sedentary lifestyle and follow a balanced diet.
Choose ergonomic items
There are several objects designed for greater comfort of the hands and wrists. For example, keyboards or mouse pads. In this way, you will slightly reduce the pressure while you work. If your company doesn't provide them, buy them yourself, for your health!
Do localized exercises
Who said wrists can't be trained? It is necessary to do this, to avoid carpal tunnel syndrome. Some options that may interest you are:
Make circles with your wrists. With your palms down and out, rotate both wrists to the right (5 times) and then to the left (5 more times).
Stretch your fingers. As much as you can, holding the position for 10 seconds. Repeat at least 3 times a day.
Thumb pull. You have to grab the thumb with the opposite hand. Pull outwards and inwards, until you feel a slight pressure. Be careful not to make sudden movements, because the bone could move and cause you a lot of pain.
Clench your fist. Close your fist with all the strength you have. You can squeeze a rubber ball if you like. Clench and then relax your fists about 10 times. You can do this while talking on the phone, while watching a movie or traveling on the subway.
Lift some weight. Always keep a weight of no more than 2 kg at your disposal. You can buy it, or make it yourself by filling a bottle with sand. Sit in front of a table. Rest your forearms and let your hands hang down. Raise and lower your wrists. Repeat the movement 10 times.
